Shreem Yogshala

.

There is a kind of depth that only stillness can reach. Yin Yoga takes you to the edges of your connective tissue — asking you to stay, to breathe, to surrender into sensation rather than push through it. Yoga Nidra takes you further still — beneath the body, beneath thought, into the luminous territory of pure awareness that exists just below the threshold of sleep. Together, these two practices form one of the most powerful healing combinations. And Shreem Yogshala’s 100 Hour Yin Yoga & Yoga Nidra Teacher Training in Goa is one of the very few programs in India where you will learn to teach both — both are taught with equal depth, equal rigour, and equal reverence. This 100 hour yin yoga teacher training in Goa is designed for those who feel most alive in stillness, and who are ready to guide others there. Set in our seaside sanctuary in Querim, North Goa, this training draws students from across the world who come seeking something the faster forms of yoga cannot offer — genuine rest, real release, and the rare ability to guide others into the innermost chambers of the self.
This yin yoga teacher training in Goa covers a rich, layered curriculum — moving through the physical, energetic, psychological, and philosophical dimensions of both practices. Each module deepens your understanding of the other.
  • Origins of Yin Yoga — from Taoist yoga to Paul Grilley and Sarah Powers
  • The three principles: appropriate edge, time, and stillness
  • Yin vs. Yang — understanding polarity in the body and in a complete practice

  • The rebound: honouring the pause between postures as part of the practice
  • The ideal hold
  • 35+ Yin postures studied in depth: alignment, props, timing, variations, contraindications

Postures for the lower body — hips, pelvis, hamstrings, groins, and outer thighs.

  • The four states of consciousness: waking, dreaming, deep sleep, and pure awareness (turiya)
  • The hypnagogic state — working at the threshold between sleep and waking
  • Brainwave science: alpha, theta, and delta — what happens in the body during Yoga Nidra
  • The pancha kosha model — guiding practitioners through the five sheaths of the self
  • Sankalpa (sacred resolve) — how to set, plant, and return to intention within the Nidra
  • Rotation of consciousness — the complete body map and why it works neurologically
  • The seven-stage classical structure of a complete Yoga Nidra session
  • Writing your own scripts — language, pacing, visualisation, and personalisation
  • Developing your voice as a guide — tone, pace, silence, and resonance
  • Yoga Nidra for different intentions: deep rest, stress relief, creativity, emotional healing
  • Trauma-informed Yoga Nidra — adapting language and imagery for sensitive populations
  • Recording, reviewing, and refining your own scripts as professional teaching tools
  • How Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra naturally deepen and complete each other
  • Designing a full 75–90 minute Yin + Nidra class: structure, arc, and flow

  • Restorative add-ons: using bolsters and props in the Nidra phase for full body support
  • The art of verbal cueing in Yin — inviting rather than directing
  • Voice as an instrument: pace, pause, tone, and the power of intentional silence
  • Holding space — creating trust, safety, and the conditions for deep inner release
  • Managing emotional releases — what to do when students cry or feel overwhelmed in class
  • Teaching in different contexts: studios, wellness retreats, yoga teacher training India Goa, corporate, and clinical settings
  • Peer teaching practicum — lead a full Yin + Nidra session with structured faculty
  • The autonomic nervous system — how Yin and Nidra activate the parasympathetic (rest and repair) response
  • Fascia — the body’s connective web and how it stores emotional and physical stress
  • Polyvagal theory basics — neuroception, co-regulation, and the nervous system in a yoga setting
  • Contraindications for Yin postures: lower back, knees, hips, and disc-related concerns
  • Taoist philosophy — wu wei, yin-yang cosmology, and the art of effortless non-doing
  • Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and the Mandukya Upanishad as guides for depth practice teachers
  • Karma, vasanas, and samskaras — how Yoga Nidra works at the level of unconscious patterning

What is the difference between Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga?

This is one of the most common questions we receive — and it is a genuinely important distinction for any teacher to understand clearly. While both practices are slow, floor-based, and deeply restful, they work in fundamentally different ways.

Yin Yoga

Restorative Yoga

Target: connective tissue (fascia, ligaments, tendons)

Target: nervous system (rest and recovery)

Muscles are relaxed but the body meets mild to moderate sensation

Body is fully supported — no sensation or effort at all

Postures held for 3–5 minutes (sometimes longer)

Postures held for 5–20 minutes

Props used to support the shape, not eliminate sensation

Props used to eliminate all effort and sensation completely

Works with meridians and Qi (Traditional Chinese Medicine)

Works with the parasympathetic nervous system

Mild productive discomfort is part of the practice

Complete ease and comfort is the entire point

Develops flexibility, joint health, and energetic balance

Restores the nervous system; ideal for illness, trauma, or exhaustion

Active practice — you are working with sensation

Passive practice — you are simply resting deeply

Yes — and many students do exactly this. There are two ways to approach it:

Option 1 — Complete this 100 hour training first, then join our 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Goa. The 100 hour program deepens your personal practice and gives you a specialist foundation in Yin and Yoga Nidra. When you then move into the 200 hour TTC, you arrive with greater body awareness, stronger philosophy, and a richer understanding of how the deeper layers of yoga work — making the full 200 hours significantly more valuable.

Option 2 — Complete your 200 hour yoga teacher training in Goa first, then join this 100 hour specialisation as a continuing education program. This is the path many experienced teachers take when they want to diversify their teaching portfolio and add depth to what they already offer.

Not at all. Some familiarity with yoga is all what required. You do not need to be flexible, experienced in Yin, or to have ever been guided through a Yoga Nidra. Sincerity and openness are the only prerequisites.

Is this a Yoga Alliance certified program?

Yes. Shreem Yogshala is a Yoga Alliance registered school, and this yin yoga teacher training in Goa carries full Yoga Alliance accreditation. Upon completion you can register as a YACEP (Continuing Education Provider) — a recognised professional credential accepted internationally.

Many of our students come to this training precisely because they are navigating stress, burnout, or emotional difficulty. Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra are two of the most evidence-supported practices for nervous system regulation and rest. That said, if you have a diagnosed condition, we recommend consulting your healthcare provider before enrolling and letting us know at the time of booking so we can support you well.
